MSK is pround to announce its partnership with
S.T.A.R.S. Worldwide

  • S.T.A.R.S. is an entrepreneurial, educational experience for students 11-years-old through college, focusing on tweens and teens with special needs, from socioeconomically disadvantaged communities. The program is featured in a PBS television special.
  • S.T.A.R.S. provides a positively safe haven for its participants to escape the negative influences and threats that are commonplace in their homes and neighborhoods.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants perform at prestigious theaters around the world and are selected to compete in coveted performance competitions including American Idol, The Voice, Amateur Night at The Apollo and New Wave Europe.

2014 – Sydney Arterbridge in the group “Co-X-IsT” from Columbus, Ohio

The group is called Co-X-isT because they are Latin, African American, and Caucasian – all working together to make something special happen.

  • S.T.A.R.S. participants receive classroom training and are tested.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants receive long-term mentoring from positive male and female role models who volunteer to help guide participants’ personal development.S.T.A.R.S. fosters a competitive environment that trains participants to grow from their mistakes and to manage their success.
  • S.T.A.R.S. promotes teamwork by assigning formal group projects where teams are evaluated on their ability to organize the group, develop action items, distribute the workload, set and meet timelines. Individuals within each group evaluate one another as well.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants are trained to operate every functional area of the music business including management, marketing and sales.

2013 American Idol

Sydney’s performance in front of the judges that takes her to Hollywood!

  • S.T.A.R.S. participants receive formal training in every aspect of the creative process including music composition, scale and theory.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants receive training throughout the entire program focusing on budgeting and money management. Tutoring is provided for participants that require special math support.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants receive fundamental language and writing training, along with song writing education. Tutoring is provided for participants that are behind in this discipline and require special support.

2014 American Idol Interviews

  • S.T.A.R.S. participants must maintain passing grades and pass standardized testing at their respective schools to remain active in the program.
  • S.T.A.R.S. maintains formal relationships with social services providers that can assist participants in times of crisis.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants are signed to recording contracts with record companies like Atlantic and Sony.
  • S.T.A.R.S. participants create works that are showcased in the Guggenheim Museum.

MSK / S.T.A.R.S. Worldwide Partnership

Program participants from S.T.A.R.S. Worldwide who are survivors of child abuse and molestation will be trained by MSK to tell their stories like professional speakers. After completing the training, they will be booked to speak and perform their music live on the college tour.
